so the US will get this stupid thing instead of just a wagon. this is basically a wagon just with a little bit of ground clearance.. people in the US suck for not buying wagons and thinking they need SUV/CUV/SAVs

Its basically a countryman with different body panels.

New Countryman looks good.
Lifestyle vehicle, not the most practical.
X2 will be somehow in the same category...

I think this will be the SAV that competes with the Mercedes GLA.

No. Kill the fog lights. Always looks more aggressive.

BMW's "X" series SAV numbering is all jacked up! They need to revise the model designation based on size! Seriously!

X1, larger X2, larger X3, larger X4, larger X5, larger X7!,..and then the X6 Coupe!

As it stands now, the X3 is larger than the X4,...which also may be smaller than the X1/X2!!!!

Seems to be an X1 with a slightly less practical trunk.

I really don't see the point, the GLA has a smaller trunk than a freakin Golf, but this class clearly has a target market.

The old question:why buy a coupe or convertible, when a sedan or combi fulfills your needs? The old answer: I like it.

When new X3 came out, I realised it was worth waiting two years for the upcoming X4, which has the coupe/combicoupe styling I wanted.

I am now waiting for X2M to come out in about three years time- alternatives are XC60 and upcoming E-Pace.

Cooper S Works has had very good reviews for handling in UK Car Magazines, and I expext M to be able to "take out" any remaining FWD bias by tuning AWD system.

XC60 vs X2?
First of all, the X2 is a lifestyle SUV, a smaller car and it's got a bit more attitude than the F48, but it's not a full blown family SUV like the new XC60 is, totaly different segment! I-Pace is a full EV suv, not an apple vs apple comparo imo.

About the X2 M35i Scott, that's with the B48 right, because this is the UKL, with 4 pot only - so it's taken steps towards the 35 moniker, i guess that means close to 300 hk?

Should be a good platform for performance imo, allthough i don't fancy the UKL platform at all.

Not a fan of BMW latest generic product offerings but this will sell like hot cakes. This segment is very popular with the Q30, CLA, and a upcoming offerings from other manufacturers but I think BMW has lost what it once was and unfortunately I no longer get excited about any of the latest releases. Kudos to the sales numbers, they'll be strong for sure.

ron, I have the right to jump between segments -my money. Both cars will take my skis and golfclubs.

I did not mention any I-Pace, but upcoming E-Pace.

It is a bit cockey to rule out what M can do to the UKL architecture. Probably 300+ bhp.

Cool.

Are we aiming at S3 / Golf R or AMG45 / RS3 levels?

If BMW cannot figure out how to stuff a inline 6 into the engine bay and rear bias the xDrive, then I will pass and go to X3
