You do you! People hate on my car DAILY (2017 XDrive 2.8i)...telling me I ‘ruined’ it. I paid for it, I’ll do whatever I want with it, and I’m happy with it! It draws a LOT of attention! I actually get more people that love it and ask what it is than the haters. Mods include:
Debadging Tinted windows & taillights Blacked out window trim Vent Visors to keep the rain out and the windows open! Carbon Fiber wrap on hood, mirrors, rear spoiler, all silver trim. 19” Avant Garde 619 wheels and Firestone Indy 500 tires Blue RimBlades to keep the nicks and chips down from road debris Epoxy painted blue calipers K&N Cold Air Intake Dinan Sport Tuner Yellow Driving lights Vantrue N2 Pro Dash Cam to get the front and interior Vinyl graphics to promote my business Custom coding from CodeMyCar I am actively searching for an exhaust that’s not obnoxious to help it breathe a little, as well as a 2” lowering kit to stiffen up the suspension and allow the wheels and tires to tuck a little. I don’t like taking off hard and the back squatting. I am 47 yrs old, and enjoy my car. I honestly don’t care what anyone thinks... |

I didn't like the driver's pull out (flimsy) cup holder in my 2009 328 being right above the I drive controller, so I fabricated a replacement that would put my water bottle down at the side of the center console. Simple rig, but effective...took a bike water bottle cage and pop riveted it to a strip of heavy gauge plastic that I slid under the console side trim...sturdy, secure and adjustable( just slide back 'n forth to adjust for driver seat position)...and no liquid passing over the $XXX I Drive unit! Posted a pic on the E90 forum and boy did I get a "ration of $....t" from the Forum Member folks... It was, and still is, ez and cheap to fabricate, functional and discrete, but all I heard was... "Not something you would ever put in a BMW!" |

Hey I was looking to vinyl wrap my trim and was wondering what vinyl you went with. Is that's satin or matte black on the front bumper silver trim pieces ? |

I really want to vinyl wrap the light gray rear bumper lower diffuser trim (xLine pre-LCI) and read about problems with wrap not adhering to the textured plastic. In this thread I see two photos showing that folks have pulled it off. Can anyone please share what kind of wrap works, and any tips/tricks? Has it held up over time?

I would say the key is surface prep and careful application with heat. Wash the surface well and clean out all edges well then wipe with isopropyl alcohol. Use a hair dryer or heat gun to soften the wrap for curves and corners. A sharp exacto knife type blade works well for cutting. Tape of the adjacent surfaces to the wrapped piece as it'll make readjusting and wrapping the edges/corners much easier. Be patient and get some extra wrap if this is your first time doing it as a buffer for redos. |
