I seen this and it's so savage!!! I love it! Even the salesmen at the dealership will tell you that Mercedes is below BMW. You only buy a Mercedes if you want mediocre looks, fair performance, and luxury interior. I'd buy an Audi over a Mercedes. The only thing I will say that Mercedes has that BMW doesn't, is the backlit emblem, which is a nice touch.

I personally think its hilarious, its cheeky and promotes BMW in a Youthful light which i presume the X2 is aimed at the younger potential BMW driver seemingly trying to give the X2 a cheeky personality, not enough car adverts out there who really go after their competitors in the adverts themselves. it adds a sense of competition to it which i think most car owners appreciate and enjoy.
This was bold from BMW, but smart. |

Lmao, I don't know what some of you guys are talking about, the commercial is awesome. Reminds me of the old commercials and billboards war between BMW and Audi.

As far as the billboard ads those were done by local dealers in California. Not actually from Audi and BMW Corporate. Nonetheless, I still this ad is kinda funny. But BMW definitely needs a GLA45 competitor if they want to call Merc out.
No, I'd say that's a Cadillac lol. |

And nothing in the pipeline either. The highest they'll go is the X2 M35i M Performance model arriving later this year. This will be positioned against the upcoming second-generation GLA in GLA35 form (a new mid-level entry - there will be a second generation GLA45 above it) and the second generation Q3 in SQ3 guise (again, a new mid-level entry - there will be second generation RSQ3 above it).
When it comes to small vehicles, BMW has elected to split its lineup between two platforms. That's good for coupe/convertible buyers who will be treated with a second generation 2 Series coupe and M2 that retain RWD and an inline-six. But those make up a very small piece of the small vehicle market. SUVs (those especially), sedans, and hatchbacks are where the sale are, and BMW is moving them to a FWD platform to better compete in development/production cost with Audi and Mercedes who've been using FWD platforms for this type of vehicle from essentially the get-go. That by itself doesn't necessarily have to be bad - the small Audi and Mercedes products are mostly quite good. But, since most of BMW's (and, specifically, M Division's) performance R&D budget is being poured into the S55 (soon S58) I6 and the S63 V8, there's not enough left to create a proper high performance "S48" I4 that could match up against the Mercedes M133 (heading up over 400hp soon) and Audi I5 (already at 400hp, more coming soon). That means no proper "1M" hatchback, M2 Gran Coupe, X1 M, nor X2 M since an I6 nor, obviously, a V8 will fit. Maybe BMW intends to come back next decade with a killer hybrid setup (maybe something like Volvo's T8) to do battle with Audi and Mercedes in the small high performance vehicle segments. But, that's really just wishful thinking, and there are no known plans as of now. To me that's a shame. Bringing it back around to the topic at hand. No, BMW is not dropping the mic. BMW is, in fact, dropping the ball. |

No, unfortunately. They might very well try to tell the consumer that, but that won't make it so. The X2 M35i will have about 300hp. The Mercedes AMG GLA35 and Audi Q3 S are its competition.
More about the Mercedes-AMG's *35 plans: https://www.motor1.com/news/238934/a...00-horsepower/ And the Audi SQ3: https://www.motorauthority.com/news/...-sq3-spy-shots |

I wish MB would do something similar with the AMG GT-R...yeah, no answer, that's what I thought.
Doesn't even need to be the GT R. A base GT would do. And they better laugh while they can, next gen GLA is around the corner, and the interior of it is probably 2 classes above that garbage X2 interior. And that's from someone that actually likes the X2 design. |

LOVE IT! And anyone under 30 in the U.S. will love it too. That's their target audience. Brilliant marketing.
Plus, We should all CELEBRATE and jump for joy that BMW gives us some interesting color choices. Even though I wouldn't buy Yas Marine Blue or Dakar Yellow, I'm always pleased that BMW is bold on their core palate! |

A 400hp X2 would be useful everywhere a 500hp X4 or 600hp X6 will be useful. That's either everywhere, nowhere, or somewhere in between, and depends on one's priorities. Quote:

BMW did not opt out of this game because they don't want money. They opted out because they dogmatically held on to RWD for so long that they are playing catch-up now in order to match the competitors on per-vehicle profit in small vehicles. If they had the spare cash to do an S48 and the chassis development Mercedes and Audi have put into their FWD platforms to make them appropriate for performance products, they would absolutely be planning UKL M-proper products. |

This is such a stupid argument. If you apply it to the Porsche Macan, it's just an Audi A4. The reality is that all manufacturers share platforms to one degree or another, because it makes sense to do so.

As a part of millennial generation, this is just a dumb ad. It honestly feels embarrassing.
The direction BMW is largely heading in feels so pedestrian and boring. |
