New to this, help with coding
Hi all, I bought an oem 8.8" screen to replace my 6.5". I've got all the tools and I wanted to know before fitting how to code it so it works? I'm new to all this so please forgive me for my ignorance. Do I need one of them obd tools and the app to do it? I'm in the UK and I want to buy the obd tool, the one I've seen is the Veepeak OBDCheck BLE+. Anyone have any suggestions recommendations, will be highly appreciated.

you need to get either bimmercode but best to get yourself a copy of esys and enet cable. that is 100% reliable with coding the display upgrade. Bimmercode works for some people but not all and those that it don’t work for, they have to use esys to code in the change.
the obd tool you’re looking at is just a scanner, won’t help with any coding. |

You will need Bimmer code to change to the correct screen size. I believe other methods like Carly or Esys can also be used. But I used Bimmer code on mine.
After you install the 8.8 inch display. In the Bimmer code under Head unit, expert mode, look for the display resolution. Then choose the correct screen size and hit code. That's how I did when I install third party android unit. So that things show up on the display in the correct ratio. Hope this will help you with your mod. |

The screen setting has up to 12.3 inch. In the iDrive the biggest is 10.5. So the screen setting should be 10.5 to have same setting as in iDrive. You will need Bimmer code full version for sure.

if you use esys, you need an enet cable which is the route i went.
bimmercode - you can use another adapter. check this video out for bimmercode. i prefer esys. i’ve never tried bimmercode but it works well except just some people have issues with changing display size as it simply doesn’t take the settings for some reason. https://youtu.be/GYymCCNofVk |
