I have a 2016 F48 with the bigger screen.
If I am listening to my iPhone 11 through Bluetooth, then the voice directions from google maps on my phone will come through the car speakers.
But if I am just listening to the car radio, then I do not get these instructions.

Anyone know how to rectify this so that I get these voice instructions through the car speakers?

need more info. are you using an mmi or android screen or did you retrofit a new HU/Screen as the 2016 doesn't have a wlan or the evo HU or just using your phone connected via usb?

Just phone not physically connected by a cable or anything. Phone is paired via Bluetooth.

So my phone is in my dashboard holder, showing google maps, but I am listening to car radio. Google maps voice instructions do not come through.

Think it was a previous car, in the same scenario, I would get the google voice instructions through and my car display would read that it was an incoming call from myself!

I might just have found a setting in google maps itself to "play as Bluetooth phone call"

Yip, that did the trick.

Looks like I might be relying on google maps more now due to BMWs new approach to Connected Drive features.
