It'll be available as xDrive so I don't get the FWD fuss.

So it's better looking than current X1; yet it's better looking than the 2014 F15 X5.

Most important question:
When will the X1M be released ?

I'd consider it. I want lots of headroom (I'm tall, and X1 has most of any BMW), room for small kids, and a potent drive.

If it has a transverse motor, it will likely have Haldex, unlike a true xDrive, quattro or 4Matic car. Haldex only sends power to the rear wheels once slip is detected, or has a very light rear wheel bias, like 90/10. Go drive a Countryman AWD.

It's interesting everyone complaining about the current one is European. Is the pre-LCI really that bad compared to our current US X1's (which are undoubtedly the same/higher quality than the e9x series interior)?

The 3/4 rear view of the current X1 is kind of blah, but how can you say this is a bad looking front?

This is BS! The X1 will get a tailpipe on both sides while the X3 on has only a tailpipe on one side regardless of model. BS >_<!

Shape looks good in camo. "RenderING" looks like a nissan juke in front.

Nothing says silly quite like an inline motor with split exhaust. Be happy about your misfortune.

Pedal down and you get it very easily into oversteer on snow (ok thats about the only surface you get oversteer on).

RWD X1 is unsellable in Switzerland, nobody buys em.
Also I think there are enough RWD cars in the lineup, the X1 wich is a small SUV makes not much sence beeing RWD anyway.

I see the X1 as an "utility car", it's not a sportscar, ours (25d LCI) is driven mostly by my wife (to work, to the shops...) but I have to admit that I like to drive it to, it's a nice practical car and she gets a lots of posivite comments on it.

I meant awd based on a full time power split, not the Haldex setup. It's more fun in dry weather and still works fine in the snow and ice.

As the F15 and F25 can be bought with S drive, it's natural that the cheaper X1 will come at the up and coming 1 series platform, which means it will be FWD.
Here in Norway, about 1 out of 10 X1 is Sdrive, it goes very cheap!
It's not a issue for me, as i would've bought an Xdrive version anyway on the bigger siblings.

But it's a mean to make it cheaper.
As with the spypics, dramatic roof line, very step.
The current X1 is buttugly, so the new should look better in all aspects.
Wonder about that X2 though.

As for an E90 driver complaining about the E84 interior, especially the location of the nav, just don't look around your own car too closely. Our E82 had a cheaper feeling interior, but the E90 isn't much better and certainly not any nicer than our E84. The only area I can say an E91 is better done is the hatch area, where it seems BMW engineers went to sleep on the E84.
i think its mostly the center console that bugs me the most about the 1ers (x1 included)

i think the f3x is worse than the both the e8x and e9x for interior feel. now that they removed the dome over the nav, its even worse.

Yes I know the difference, but it doesn't matter that much (to me) on this kind of vehicle. I wouldn't want my M135ix to have this system, on the X1 I do not care that much.

Yes, but you can get the M135ix. The only hatch we can get in the US with an N55 is the E84. No F31, no F20 or F21, etc. So we have an E84 35ix. Of course it's unlikely that the next X1 will offer similar power, since it's more likely to have a transverse engine.

In 14 years time there will be no more small cars in RWD if BMW continue the 7 year size increases.

I don't want a RWD oil tanker size car. I just hope the 2 series has stunted growth when its second gen comes out.

Looks like a van. Pretty sure this is the car we thought was 1 GT all along.
It's low and how the roof slopes down makes it more of a van than a SUV.
