Active Guard
Can someone explain what Active Guard actually is?
According to the brochure it comes as standard, I've asked the Genius guys, but all I have had is a very basic explanation that say's I get active guard. Is it like the Volvo city brake system?, will the car self brake at slow speeds to avoid a collision? any info appreciated. |

Not that the standard Active Guard does not provide any warnings until the very last second before automatic intervention is needed. Driving Assist/Driving Assist Plus packages add visual and audible early warnings to that (amongst other things that are irrelevant to your question). The warnings are customisable via iDrive and you can set the distance you want them to be activated. They also add brake preconditioning (increased the pedal pressure). |

RE fuel economy, I'm getting around 30~32 to 35 MPG combined, depending on the motorway/city ratio. I work from home and don't have a standard commute like most people. So the numbers change from time to time. Best I've achieved on the motorway was 42 (no traffic, Eco-Pro mode). Worst so far, 22mpg (lots of short trips around town). It's already a mandatory safety feature in HGVs in Europe and will gradually become mandatory for regular cars in a couple of years anyway (2022 in the US for example). I find it very strange if the Canadian models don't have it as standard. Even cheap Korean cars have it these days. |
