2016 BMW X1 (F48) Rendering and Early Info

Autobild get closer with new BMW X1 rendering.

In some markets, including the North American market. The F48 X1 is going to be xDrive only.

This rendering is very close indeed. The front is very similar, with a dynamic sweep of the headlights. A feature on the next generation 7er, 5er and new X7.

And although it is shown as the M Sport in this render. The front fascia aligns with the new X family signature but looks more sporty to appeal to younger customers. The rear incorporates typical BMW L-shaped units that wrap around the exterior X3-like.

The shape and character sculpture on the render conforms to what is hidden underneath camouflage and vacuumed plastic paneling on the current prototype.

The kicked-up hofmeister kick and rising glasshouse is carried over , highlight more by the dynamic sweep downwards of the roofline to highlight a more sportier profile than before.

The new X1 launches next Summer and will premiere at the 2015 IAA and launches early 2016. The X1 will be built in Leipzig , Shengyang and a new facility in Brazil. As a first for the Chinese market there will be an X1L a long wheelbase model for greater passenger comfort.

Engines will range from a three cylinder to a 300+PS four cylinder. Both petrol and diesel will be offered. A plug-in hybrid eDrive model will also be available.

The interior will offer greater leg room especially for rear passengers and a new dash that fits between the new X5 and Active Tourer with surfaces and layers.

One year later will be the next X family member - The BMW X2 available for the first time as a 3dr and 5dr.
